EXPERIENCE

HORT 201

Horticulture Lab Analysis

This lab focused on chilling injury to tropical foliage plants or fruits, or summer annuals. Our professor had us utilize the Tradescantia plant for this specific experiment and work in teams to gather a sufficient amount of data. We focused on what happens to the Tradescantia as it is placed in chilling temperatures for 3 weeks. After analyzing the results, we found that plants at temperatures between 32-45 degrees continued to thrive and produce new growth.

Leather

and Flowers

Styled Shoot Relationship

This shoot focused on showcasing the leather wrap, turquoise, and colorful floral bouquet. There were many emails, calls, texts sent before hand between all the vendors to verify color scheme, delivery time, shoot destination, and all other details. After the shoot, each vendor received the pictures and was able to share on social media. With each share, my company was tagged and shared with a new target market. This was a great opportunity to market my business and draw in more customers.

Wedding

Clay + Mary's Wedding

One of the biggest challenge with this particular wedding was the care and handling of the flowers. After designing the bouquets and arrangements, all of them had to be packed to prevent the designs from sliding in the car as we had to drive three hours to the venue. This drive was a major considerations when planning when to start designing, especially boutonnieres since the flower stem are not able to be in water once designed and wrapped with ribbon.

Publication

Something Blue Trends

This shoot was directed solely off the color scheme chosen. Through my horticulture education, I have learned there are facts behind how flowers can effect a persons attitude, smiling rate, and overall outlook on life. With a cohesive color scheme and variety of textures, the correct message can be conveyed through the floral design.

This "Something Blue" shoot was published in a wedding industry magazine, which is shared with many brides, wedding and event vendors, and community members. This publications is a great way of marketing to bring new customers to my floral business.

Styled Shoot

Garden Inspired Styled Shoot

I was able to organize this styled shoot for a local wedding publication. This shoot included many local, new vendors from the area. Each of us wanted to focus on showcasing something unique that is a current trend in the industry. Since I was the lead designer and florist of this shoot, it was my responsibility to communicate with each vendor to ensure the overall look and timing was correct. Once the pictures were edited and delivered, I wrote a blog post for my website to share each of the vendors hard work and the gorgeous pictures.

HORT 315

Floral Industry Trends

One of the biggest tactics of marketing is keeping up with what each customer is desiring and what will be the next trend. Having this knowledge allows for me to stay on top of what my customers will be asking for or potentially desiring for their designs. This paper allowed for me to spend time researching what will be coming in the future for the floral industry and what changes have already been made.
